GUIDELINES FOR AUTHORS
AIMS AND SCOPE OF JIS
The Journal of Integrated Sciences (JIS) is a multidisciplinary publication initiated by the International Open University (IOU). It aims to publish quality research and review articles focusing on all kinds of studies, especially practical studies that fall under the auspices of any of the sciences of Islam and relate to today's Muslim. JIS is a blind peer-reviewed open-access journal, published Quarterly (March, June, September, and December) in two languages Arabic and English. To follow the structure of the Journal of Integrated Sciences (JIS), the author might refer to the most recent published articles. All manuscripts are to be submitted at the following link: https://jis.iou.edu.gm/index.php/islamic/about/submissions or, to the email address: submissions.jis@iou.edu.gm
MANUSCRIPT CATEGORIES AND REQUIREMENTS
Four types of submission are accepted for publication by the journal:
1. Research Article
- Empirical Research - Quantitative
- Empirical Research - Qualitative
- Empirical Research - Mixed methods
- Clinical trial
- Pilot Study
- Instrument Development
- Discussion Paper - Methodology
- Empirical Research Methodology
2. Literature Review
- Systematic review or other type of review

3. Book Review
The JIS also welcomes other types of paper that do not fit into the above categories. If you are unsure whether your paper is suitable, please send a structured abstract to the editorial office in the first instance (submissions.jis@iou.edu.gm).
4. Editorials
Unsolicited editorials may be submitted directly to: submissions.jis@iou.edu.gm or you may discuss a potential editorial with the Editor-in-Chief (email: editorinchief.jis@iou.edu.gm). Generally, editorials are between 500-1000 words.
REVIEW PROCESS
All contributions will be initially assessed by the editorial committee for suitability of respective articles for the JIS. The suitable articles would be sent to a minimum of two independent reviewers who would have expertise in that area. Based on their comments, the decision will be made regarding the acceptance or rejection of the article. Authours must be communicated along with the Reviewers comments. Authors should not submit manuscripts that are under consideration for publication elsewhere. No plagiarized content will be accepted.
CONFLICT OF INTEREST STATEMENT
Authors are required to provide a conflict-of-interest statement during the submission process. Submitting authors should ensure they liaise with all co-authors to confirm agreement with the final statement.
AUTHORSHIP
The list of authors should accurately illustrate who contributed to the work and how. All those listed as authors should qualify for authorship according to the following criteria:
- Have made substantial contributions to conception and design, or acquisition of data, or analysis and interpretation of data.
- Been involved in drafting the manuscript or revising it critically for important intellectual content.
- Given final approval of the version to be published.
- Agreed to be accountable for all aspects of the work.
Prior to submitting the article, all authors should agree on the order in which their names will be listed in the manuscript.
PUBLISHING ETHICS
As a multidisciplinary journal that publishes quality research, JIS ensures the scientific record's integrity. Authors should not misinterpret the research findings, as this can undermine trust in the publication. It can potentially jeopardize the scientific author's professionalism as well as the entire scientific endeavor. To maintain research integrity, the author should adhere to the following guidelines:
- Author should conduct unique and original research.
- Manuscript submitted to JIS is not being considered by any other journals.
- The conduct of 'salami-publishing' is forbidden.
- Avoid 'self-plagiarism' from previously published work.
- It is not acceptable to fabricate or manipulate data (including visuals).
- False or purposefully incorrect explanations are exploitative and unacceptable.
- The work of others should be acknowledged properly.
- Presenting a similar composition to multiple journals at the same time is unethical and unacceptable behavior.
- Conflicts of interest should be declared if any.
- At the time of submission, authors should confirm that the author group, corresponding author, and author order are proper. After a paper has been accepted, no changes in authorship or author order will be considered.
- If authors are added or removed at the revision process, it may be justified. A note describing the role of the author(s) newly added or deleted must be submitted with the amended manuscript to justify this change. Processing your request may necessitate further documentation.
- On request, authors shall submit any relevant documentation or data for verifying the results' authenticity. They can be submitted in the form of raw data, samples, records, and so on. No sensitive information including confidential or proprietary data shall be included.
ORCID
As part of the journal's commitment to supporting authors at every step of the publishing process, the journal encourages the submitting author (only) to provide an ORCID ID when submitting a manuscript. This takes around 2 minutes to complete. Find more information here. https://orcid.org/. However, this is not a requirement for publication.
